Hi all!
I have so much to share with you! This winter break was packed with family and friends and I am so blessed for every opportunity I had to spend with them. I was lucky enough to visit my family in Chile and brought my best friend along with me! Traveling in a different country with my best friend and my awesome cousins next to me? It's the way to go I tell ya.
I'll be posting pictures from the trip here in the next few days! I'm currently sitting at the airport waiting for a plane to take me away from sunny south Florida to the Midwest where apparently it is freeeeeezing... just like every other state BUT Florida is. Although I'm not ready to trade in my sandals for snow boots, I am pumped about my last semester of college! Where has time gone?! I've thought of this moment in my educational career for years and I can't believe it's here. We are given about a 100 page handbook for our student teaching. I read some of it and skimmed most of it... holy smokes. It's looking like it's going to be one busy semester but I'm ready to fully experience what it is to be a teacher.
As I sit in the airport and people watch (don't act like you don't do it too!), I keep thinking about all of the different places people are trying to get to and all of our very many different reasons for traveling there and the different types of "baggage" people are carrying with them. I sat on a plane next to a couple who were from the Down South (their words) and this was the very first time they were able to take a vacation together. I asked how long they have been together and they replied 30 years. 30 years! 30 years of not being able to experience another town or city together with all of the culture and tastes new places bring. We spoke some more and I could tell that those 30 years of working and saving for this trip was worth it. The wife mentioned a house fire that occurred 5 years ago. Baggage. We all carry one, but it's not so easy to see who is carrying something light and who is carrying something heavy.
I'm glad I met that sweet, sweet couple and I thank them for reminding me that choosing to be happy and not worrying about things we can't control is the best way to enjoy the gift of present time.
I hope everyone is staying warm and has a great start to their weekend!
Come back soon and see my trip to Chile and other Holiday photos!
What do you do to pass the time at the airport? Where did you spend your Holidays?
