A last hoorah! This summer has been a great one and to end it with family was the best. There's nothing like being with my parents and grandparents to make me feel like I'm home, no matter where we are. But being at the beach just so happens to be one of the best places to be able to call home! I've been going there almost every summer and winter break since I was born. I really have to thank my parents for making it a priority to be with my grandparents during those months. I wasn't sure if i'd be able to make it down there this summer, but luckily the starts aligned and my prayers were answered! Off to grandmothers I go :)
I found out a few days before my trip that I was going to be sharing a row with a super special someone!

I think that smile says it all! My mom and I got to meet up during our lay-overs. We found our gate and headed off to go find some lunch. Let me just tell you, but this woman makes me laugh and smile more than anyone I know! I am extremely blessed to have her as a mother. Flights go by so much quicker when I'm with her! She finds humor in everything and is always the first one to point out the positive in a negative situation. Goodness, I was so happy to spend some much needed time with her :)
Our first days consisted of afternoons at the beach! My mom grew up in this town and knows some of the local beach spots where not a lot of people go. We walked to the pier, almost to the bay, and enjoyed the sand bars out in the ocean. We took advantage of the seafood and had a late lunch at a restaurant right off the bay and marina. I devoured the fish and chips. So yummy! Once our little date was over, we headed home and spent some quality time with the grandparents and had a delicious dinner. Both of my grandmothers are glorious cooks- I guess I am partial to the Latin food that they so deliciously prepare!
My little vacation was "over" once Eric arrived! I say it ended because I usually just relax and enjoy some needed down time. However, Eric was in full I-want-to-do-everthing-possible mode. Needless to say, we had a blast! From jet-skiing with my parents, to bike riding from the beach to downtown, we managed to have little adventures every day. It was a treat seeing this town through the eyes of someone who is just experiencing it for the first time!
And the creatures! Just take a look...
Eric and I were on the beach and a fisherman set up his line about 20 years away from us. Eric was in the water when I saw the line give a tug. When the fisherman picked up his pole to reel it, he called me over to take a look. I was so surprised to see such an itty bitty shark! I rubbed its back once and told the fisherman that once was enough! He threw it back into the water laughing.
My mom took us to a little island close to town and on our way from the parking lot to the shore we came across hundreds of these little crabs! They scattered away as you walked toward them and if you took a look back once you passed, they completely took over the path again. Eric tried to catch one... it didn't go too well!
We borrowed my grandpa's golf clubs and went golfing a few times. During one morning, we were looking at this bird by the edge of the water. It kept grabbing fish left and right! Then all of a sudden we saw these pairs of eyes creep out of the water, no sound at all. It was about four feet long and obviously hungry!

I'm so happy I was able to share this special place with Eric! Most importantly, I am so happy I was able to spend time with the most special people in my life. With grad school starting up this week, I am glad I ended this summer in a very positive and fun way. I am so excited to get things going again! It'll be nice getting back into a routine (will I regret saying this during midterms?!)
Blessed to be able to share in this little piece of paradise.
Hope you all have a great end to your summers!
